"Harbinger of Autumn," painted by Paul Klee in 1922, is a vivid depiction of the seasonal transition. Klee's use of warm, earthy tones and whimsical, almost ethereal forms captures the essence of autumn's arrival. The painting exudes a sense of change and anticipation, as nature prepares for the shift from the vibrancy of summer to the introspective hues of fall. Klee's distinctive style, characterized by intricate lines and dreamlike compositions, invites viewers into a world where the boundaries between the tangible and the imaginative blur.

Paul Klee

Paul Klee (1879-1940) was a Swiss-born German artist. He was one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Klee’s highly individual style was influenced by movements in art that included expressionism, cubism, and surrealism. He was also a composer and music theorist. Klee’s works reflect his dry humor and his sometimes childlike perspective, his personal moods and beliefs, and his musicality. He taught at the Bauhaus school of art, design and architecture in Germany, where he met his colleague, Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky. Klee’s works include more than 10,000 paintings, drawings, and etchings.
