Pierre-Joseph Redouté
Rosebush (Rosa damascena)
Rosebush (Rosa damascena)
In this botanical illustration, Pierre-Joseph Redouté captures the beauty and majesty of the Rosa × damascena, a variety of the damask rose. The rosebush is depicted in full bloom, its branches laden with delicate, pink blossoms. The petals are soft and velvety, with a subtle sheen that catches the light. The rosebush is set against a simple background of black and white, which allows the focus to remain on the flowers themselves.
