Pierre-Joseph Redouté
Purple French Rose
Purple French Rose
In this botanical illustration, Pierre-Joseph Redouté captures the beauty and majesty of the Rosa gallica purpuro-violacea magna, a variety of the French rose. The flower is depicted in full bloom, its petals unfurled to reveal their deep purple-violet color. The petals are delicate and translucent, with a subtle sheen that catches the light. The rose is set against a simple background of black and white, which allows the focus to remain on the flower itself.
