Paul Klee

Paul Klee (1879-1940) was a Swiss-born German artist. He was one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Klee’s highly individual style was influenced by movements in art that included expressionism, cubism, and surrealism. He was also a composer and music theorist. Klee’s works reflect his dry humor and his sometimes childlike perspective, his personal moods and beliefs, and his musicality. He taught at the Bauhaus school of art, design and architecture in Germany. Klee’s works include more than 10,000 paintings, drawings, and etchings.
